Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche has an "appetite" for the Everton job, journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

The Merseyside club are looking for a new man for the dugout after sacking Frank Lampard, and the 51-year-old is one name currently being linked to Goodison Park

Everton manager news - Sean Dyche

According to Sky Sports, Dyche and ex-Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa are now the two frontrunners for the Everton gig.

The outlet claims that both men have met the Goodison Park hierarchy and have made good impressions.

If Bielsa is Everton's man, then Farhad Moshiri and Co may have some convincing to do.

The Daily Mail recently claimed that the Argentine has some doubts about succeeding Lampard, fearing that the Toffees' squad will struggle to adapt to his style.

What has Dean Jones said about Sean Dyche and Everton?

Jones has told GMS that the Everton job is certainly one that appeals to Dyche.

On the Englishman, the journalist said: "Sean Dyche, for me, has always been quite an obvious fit because he can play a style of football that works for this set of players.

"I'm told he has quite an appetite for that job, but Everton didn't seem to be entirely convinced that he was the man to lead them forward initially."

Would Sean Dyche be a good appointment for Everton?

Currently 19th in the Premier League table, Everton's sole aim this season will be to stay up. With that being the objective, Dyche would be a very logical appointment.

While he could not keep Burnley out of relegation trouble during his final campaign at Turf Moor, he did an incredible job there overall.

Under Dyche, the Clarets even managed to come seventh one season, which is some feat for a club on their kind of budget.

You would imagine that a lot of Everton fans would prefer Bielsa. His teams are obviously renowned for playing quite exciting football.

"Leeds played an exhilarating, high-tempo brand of football which earned them the tag 'the great entertainers' on their Premier League return," journalist Ross Heppenstall wrote for the i.

"Under Bielsa’s notoriously gruelling 'murderball' training sessions, Leeds became incredibly fit, often out-running opponents while dominating possession."

However, as far as alternatives go, while their styles may be polar opposites, Dyche would not be a bad person to turn to if Everton cannot convince Bielsa to succeed Lampard at Goodison Park.
