Wolverhampton Wanderers are 'keen' to keep Adama Traore until the end of the season rather than losing him for a 'nominal fee' this month, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The Spain international is free to leave Molineux on a free transfer due to his contract expiring in the summer of this year.

Wolves Transfer News - Adama Traore

Earlier in the window, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claimed that Napoli had 'formalised' a pre-contract offer to Traore in an attempt to lure the 27-year-old to Serie A, with his Wolves deal winding down.

The Old Gold are said to have tried to tie down Traore on fresh terms at Molineux, though they have not been accepted by the pacey winger. Napoli are believed to be keeping in contact with the his 'entourage' to try and find an agreement.

talkSPORT has also linked Tottenham Hotspur with a swoop for the former Barcelona loanee. Spurs have held a 'long-standing' interest in signing Traore and tried to bring him to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January last year.

TEAMtalk also suggested previously that Leeds United were keen on Traore's services as Jesse Marsch looks to bolster his squad in the wide areas.

What has Alex Crook said about Adama Traore?

talkSPORT journalist Crook believes that Traore will stay on at Molineux for the remainder of the campaign despite interest from elsewhere.

Crook told GMS: "You've got Adama Traore, who a lot of people, including myself, thought that Wolves might sell last summer and again, this window.

"I think they're more keen, say, rather than getting a nominal fee for him in January, actually keeping him; he can play a bit of a part in them staying up and then be allowed to leave on a free transfer."

Should Wolves keep Traore until the end of this term or sell him?

Given that they are unlikely to get much money for him with such little time left on his current contract, it would probably make sense for Wolves to keep Traore around for the remainder of this term as they battle relegation.

In 2022/23, the 27-year-old has made 23 appearances for the Old Gold across all competitions, scoring two goals against Crystal Palace and Preston North End, respectively, as per Transfermarkt.

FootyStats also note that the Spaniard has completed an average of 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes this campaign, demonstrating his unique mix of pace and strength to decent effect.

Earning £46,000 a week in the West Midlands, Traore should be retained at Molineux for the time being as Julen Lopetegui looks to build on his positive beginning at Wolves.
