The Rock v Roman Reigns doesn't look like it's going to be happening at WWE WrestleMania 39, according to reports.

Despite WWE wanting the match to go down for the last 12 months, it seems like the real-life cousins won't be sharing the ring at WrestleMania.

Reports have claimed that Dwayne Johnson has informed WWE that he won't be able to get into good enough ring shape for the show, which takes place in Los Angeles in April 2023.

Is The Rock v Roman Reigns happening at WrestleMania 39?

As noted, reports emerged last week which indicated that The Rock wouldn't be coming back to WWE later on this year to work with Roman Reigns, as has been rumoured to be the plan for over a year.

The Wrestling Observer noted earlier this month that The Rock has concerns about being able to work the match, and didn't think that he'd have enough time to prepare with his incredibly hectic schedule.

And now, on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has reiterated that as far as he's aware, The Rock isn't going to be Roman's opponent for the big show in April, via WrestleTalk.

Everything that’s happened in the last week or so, I don’t think it’s Dwayne Johnson. I was told it wasn’t and all indications are it’s not.

There's no denying that Rock v Roman would have been a massive match, but unfortunately for WWE and its fans, it seems like Triple H is going to have to go in a new direction.

Who will Roman Reigns face at WrestleMania 39?

With The Rock match now seemingly off, as we've covered, Triple H is going to have to think of a new plan for the main event of his first-ever WrestleMania as Chief Content Officer.

Names like Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes have been thrown about by fans as possible opponents for Roman, with Stone Cold Steve Austin even being a surprise contender, which you can read about by clicking here.

Fans won't have to wait too long to see that WWE is planning for the show, with WrestleMania now just over two months away.

In fact, the Royal Rumble, which takes place this weekend, could give fans a good indication of WWE's plans, with the pay-per-view acting as the beginning of the 'Road to WrestleMania'.
