Manchester United have not "closed the door" on any further January deals, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed to GIVEMESPORT.

The Red Devils have already welcomed Wout Weghorst and Jack Butland to the club this month and Romano hints there may be more arrivals before Tuesday's deadline.

Manchester United transfer news

Inside the top four and with one foot in the League Cup final, it hasn't been a bad first six months in charge of United for Erik ten Hag.

The ex-Ajax chief has overseen a mini-revolution so far this season, transforming the perennial strugglers into a well-oiled outfit.

Before a recent run of patchy results, there had been some shouts United might've found themselves in a title race come the end of the season.

Nonetheless, ten Hag can still be proud of the work he's done to get United where they are at the halfway stage of the campaign, not least with his player recruitment.

Having shown club legend Cristiano Ronaldo the cold shoulder, before the five-time Ballon d'Or winner left for Saudi Arabia, ten Hag welcomed compatriot Weghorst to Old Trafford, with the stop-gap striker signing on loan from Burnley.

But now, with just days of the January transfer window remaining, suggestions United might re-enter the market for reinforcements have once again surfaced.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about United's transfer activity?

Since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer, ten Hag has overseen the arrival of eight new players and there are some hinting a ninth might be about to walk through the door.

During an interview with GMS, the ever-reliable Romano claimed United were still open to acquisitions even at this late stage of the window.

On United's transfer plans, Romano told GMS: "I think they will keep an eye on the opportunities as always in the market.

"As Erik ten Hag said, sometimes it can happen in the market to have a last-minute opportunity.

"So I would not close the door on that kind of situation.”

Who might United welcome to the club before the deadline?

Romano indicated ten Hag has made it clear he wants the United hierarchy to be ready to pounce, should any deals pop up in the final days of the window.

One player that might end up at Old Trafford before the January deadline is Denzel Dumfries, who Gazzetta dello Sport claims could be on the brink of a Premier League switch.

The Italian outlet are reporting that Dumfries' representatives are in England speaking to Premier League sides about a January move, with Inter Milan said to be holding out for an offer between £40 million and £50 million.

Dumfries is the sort of player United could be on high alert for in the final few days of the January window.
