Cristiano Ronaldo was unable to prevent Al-Nassr from being knocked out of the Saudi Super Cup on Thursday evening.

The Portuguese international was in the starting lineup for his side's match against Al-Ittihad at King Fahd International Stadium.

Ronaldo was no doubt looking to get off the mark in his second appearance for his new club.

But Ronaldo was unable to get on the scoresheet as his side lost 3-1.

Al-Ittihad went into the break with a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Romarinho and Abderrazak Hamdallah.

Al-Nassr came battling back in the second half and Talisca was able to halve the deficit with 23 minutes remaining.

But the home side held on and Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti's goal in the fourth minute of stoppage-time secured their progression to the final.
