Everton have 'made inroads' with agents about bringing Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana to Goodison Park, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Toffees are set to appoint Sean Dyche to the vacant managerial position, as per Sky Sports, having parted ways with Frank Lampard earlier this month, and the winger could be the new manager's first signing.

Everton transfer news - Kamaldeen Sulemana

After missing out on Arnaut Danjuma due to Tottenham Hotspur hijacking the deal late on, the Express reported that Everton are expected to re-explore the potential signing of Sulemana, having already held extensive talks with Rennes about a deal.

The Daily Mail claim that Southampton have also made an enquiry about the winger, but Rennes are reluctant to sell , and have placed a £40m valuation on him, which has dissuaded potential suitors, with Newcastle United pulling out of the race.

Rennes are able to command a large transfer fee because the 20-year-old is currently contracted until June 2026, as per Transfermarkt, meaning the French club are under no real pressure to sell him.

What has Dean Jones said about Kamaldeen Sulemana?

Jones claims that a move to Goodison Park is still very much in the offing, after the progress that has already been made in discussions.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: "Sulemana is somebody that they've made inroads with agents to see how that deal could be struck, and I think it is certainly possible that it could happen."

Would Kamaldeen Sulemana be a good signing?

The Ghanaian has already made 15 caps for his national side despite his tender years, while he also has 33 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt, as per Transfermarkt, so there is every indication that he could come in and make an instant impact, rather than simply being one for the future.

In four Europa League appearances this term, the playmaker has bagged two assists, displaying that he has what it takes to perform at a very high level, and given his young age he is sure to continue his development further.

While £40m is a lot for a player who is still relatively unproven, Sulemana could be a very good replacement for Anthony Gordon, who the Toffees are considering selling for the same amount, as per Sky Sports.

The starlet has averaged more dribbles completed, assists and shot-creating actions per 90 than Gordon over the past year, as per FBref, but it remains to be seen whether he would be keen on joining, given that Everton find themselves in a relegation battle.
