Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos could still depart Ibrox in the final few days of the January transfer window, journalist Dean Jones has suggested to GiveMeSport.

The Colombia international has entered the final six months of his current £33,000-per-week with the Gers, but despite that, he hasn’t been strongly linked with a move away from Michael Beale’s charges.

Rangers transfer news – Alfredo Morelos

Italian outlet Sportmediaset (via the Daily Record) has claimed that Morelos has been "offered" to Inter Milan as his agent Alejandro Camano looks to seal a pre-contract agreement.

It’s believed that the 26-year-old was at the top of the agenda when Camano met with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio this week.

However, the agent refused to reveal any details when he was quizzed over the meeting, stating that it was just a ‘courtesy visit’ and that the Serie A outfit are ‘evaluating players’.

“It was just a courtesy visit,” he said. “I have several players as clients, and I just came here to talk about football. I won’t name any names; Piero is aware of the transfer market and evaluating players.”

Only time will tell if Inter make a formal approach for Morelos ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, but it may be too late in the window for Rangers to secure a replacement if they do.

What has Jones said about Morelos?

Jones has disclosed that ‘clubs have been made aware’ of Morelos’ situation and that he would expect any clubs looking to bring in a goalscorer to assess him.

In an interview with GMS, he said: “Clubs have been made aware of his situation and his potential availability.

“And it’s at this point of a window when you would kind of expect those interested clubs to come forward because let's face it, if you've got a particular problem, and you're a bit desperate, this is the moment to try and solve that with a player like Morelos.”

How big a loss would Morelos be?

Morelos has failed to find his best form for Rangers in the first half of the season, registering seven goals and four assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.

Summer signing Antonio Colak has arguably replaced him as Beale’s first-choice striker when fully fit, meaning the South American’s departure may not be as big a blow as first feared.

Fellow forward Fashion Sakala has also started to find some consistent form under the new management, but Rangers would still lack strength in depth upfront if Morelos wasn’t replaced.
