The Seattle Seahawks pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history with their performance against the Green Bay Packers during the 2015 NFC Championship game.

This weekend the NFL Playoffs move into the Conference Championship stage of proceedings, as the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers all fight it out for a place in Arizona in a fortnight’s time to compete for the Super Bowl.

Now this season, and especially the playoffs, we have seen a lot of crazy games and incredible comebacks (need we remind you of the thriller that the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers put on during the opening night of this whole thing?).

But when it comes to Conference Championship games and thrilling drama, you will have to go a long way to find one better than the one the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers put on for us when they squared off in the NFC Championship game in January of 2015.

Seattle Seahawks come storming back late on

The Seahawks and Packers developed something of a rivalry in the middle of the 2010s, first you had the ‘Fail Mary’ play that remains controversial to this day, then on the opening day of the 2014 season, cornerback Richard Sherman called out Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for not throwing his way the whole game.

So there was a lot of animosity already brewing when the two sides met in Seattle on that January afternoon, and it looked as if the Packers were going to come out on top when they stormed out to a 16-0 lead heading deep into the 3rd quarter.

But spurred on by an always boisterous home crowd, the Seahawks completed a comeback for the ages and pulled out every trick in the book in order to make it happen, first with a fake field goal to score a touchdown, then an onside kick and an incredible scrambling 2-point conversion from quarterback Russell Wilson.

They would seal their spot in the Super Bowl with a touchdown in overtime, but this game was all about the comeback that took place before it. If the games this weekend are even half as good as what these two teams put on for us back in 2015, then we are going to be in for one heck of a treat.
