Arsenal's pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo will not impact their summer move for West Ham's Declan Rice, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told GIVEMESPORT.

Edu faces a busy few days up to Tuesday's transfer deadline, but while he will have one eye on trying to bringing in a new midfielder this month, plans are already being formulated for the summer.

Arsenal Transfer News - Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo

According to The Telegraph in recent days, Arsenal have set their sights on Caicedo, but they also have Rice as a more longer-term target too at the Emirates.

The Times revealed in the past couple of weeks that Mikel Arteta's side have made Rice their number one target for the summer, and that the midfielder himself would now be open to switching across London to the Gunners.

While that appears to be a move more for the summer, the Gunners have the more immediate concern of trying to land Ecuador international Caicedo in the remaining days of the January transfer window, with The Independent claiming that it could take a bid of around £90m to prise him away from the AMEX.

What did Sheth say about Arsenal's moves for Rice and Caicedo?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth indicated that whatever happens in terms of Arsenal's move for Caicedo in these final few days of the window, the north London side will still look to go after Rice come the summer.

He said: "I've also been told, and this will be good news for Arsenal fans, is that whatever happens in their Caicedo pursuit, be it now or in the summer, it's not going to impact their interest in Declan Rice."

Declan Rice would be statement signing from Arsenal

While Arsenal fans will undoubtedly be hoping for a breakthrough in their move for Brighton's Caicedo, bringing in Rice in the summer would be the big statement signing the club will crave.

Indeed, speaking on talkSPORT earlier this month, former Liverpool star Danny Murphy talked up the prospect of Rice joining the club in the near future.

He said: "I think that would be a huge, huge move for Arsenal. You’re not just getting a wonderful midfielder who would be there for the rest of his career maybe if they carry on, you’re also getting an English one who fans can relate to, they know he can do it in the Premier League.

"He’s going to get better and I think he’ll get more of a platform to score goals. I think that would be the perfect type for Arsenal because they are heavily reliant on Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka."

As Murphy suggests, Arsenal would be getting someone who is now Premier League proven with his years at West Ham and also a permanent fixture at international level with England too.

Luring that level of talent to the Emirates would be the biggest indication that the good times have indeed come back to the red half of north London. Bringing in Caicedo in the next few days would be a cherry on top.
