Arsenal will 'consider' allowing midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga to leave the Emirates this month if they can source a replacement for him, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The 23-year-old has been on the periphery of the squad at the Gunners, with Mikel Arteta favouring other options in the engine room as he seeks to deliver a famous Premier League title triumph this term.

Arsenal Exit News - Albert Sambi Lokonga

Recently, Foot Mercato has claimed that Arsenal have rejected an offer worth around £7 million from Monaco for Lokonga this window.

In midfield, Gunners boss Arteta is light on numbers owing to a recent injury to Mohamed Elneny, which now means that Belgium international Lokonga is the only available cover for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in midfield.

The Sun has also reported that Ligue 1 side Monaco have been rebuffed in a loan bid to acquire Lokonga for the rest of the season, with hunting for additions to the engine room taking precedence over potentially losing another body there.

According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal has submitted a bid worth up to £70 million for Brighton & Hove Albion enforcer Moises Caicedo; however, the Seagulls are keen to recoup £80 million for the Ecuador international.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Albert Sambi Lokonga?

Sky Sports journalist Sheth has said that Arsenal will only allow Lokonga to leave if they can find another player to come in as a replacement.

Sheth told GMS: "Lokonga has attracted interest from Monaco, but I'm told Arsenal will only consider allowing him to leave if they bring in a replacement, so it kind of ties in with everything that's going on with [Moises] Caicedo and potentially later on with [Declan] Rice."

Should Arsenal look to offload Albert Sambi Lokonga?

Signed from Anderlecht for £18 million back in the summer of 2021, Lokonga has always been heralded as a player with big potential, though has perhaps struggled to make an impact this term when called upon.

Being used sparingly in 2022/23, the Belgian has made 15 appearances in all competitions, with just six of them coming in the Premier League, as per Transfermarkt.

Despite only being used on a handful of occasions, WhoScored has shown that Lokonga has impressed with his composure on the ball this campaign, recording a pass success rate of 92.1% during his exploits on the pitch for the Gunners.

If a January exit doesn't come to fruition for the 23-year-old, Lokonga will hope to be in and around the first-team squad as he eyes a regular starting role at the Emirates moving forward.
