West Ham United are unlikely to make any more signings in January unless a player they believe they can bring in 'suddenly becomes available', Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has informed GIVEMESPORT.

David Moyes has been active this month, completing deals for Luizao and Danny Ings from Sao Paulo and Aston Villa, respectively.

West Ham latest transfer news

Lately, it has gone a little quiet on the transfer front at West Ham, with most of the activity at the club being centred around outgoings.

Nevertheless, GOAL has recently transcribed a clipping from television channel La Chaîne L'Équipe, in which French journalist Mathieu Gregoire has claimed that Marseille midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is a target for the Hammers alongside Aston Villa.

The sports reporter stated on the broadcast: "Guendouzi, we know that English clubs like Aston Villa or West Ham are ready to draw big offers, but today, we are not there yet."

Earlier in the window, there have also been claims that West Ham are keen on Manchester United pair Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about West Ham's transfer activity?

Sky Sports journalist Sheth believes that it is doubtful West Ham will do any more business between now and the close of play in the market.

Sheth told GMS: "I just can't see how West Ham would consider that just now. Funnier things have happened; if a player suddenly becomes available and they think we can bring him in, we can allow Antonio to go; we know Ings and Scamacca are coming back, then maybe, but there's so little time now to be able to do a couple of deals of that magnitude that it looks like that West Ham are going to carry on with the squad that they've got."

Do West Ham United need any more signings this month?

In truth, there are pros and cons to whether West Ham should make any more signings this month. The Hammers have struggled this campaign and lie 16th in the Premier League table; however, they probably possess a slightly better squad than their current standing suggests.

If there were an area that West Ham would ideally look to strengthen, central defence would be the most likely bet in the eyes of most people.

Given that West Ham have sanctioned the exit of Craig Dawson to Wolverhampton Wanderers for £3.3 million this month, alongside the fact that Kurt Zouma is nursing an injury at present, it wouldn't be the worst idea to explore bringing in some additional cover for their backline.

Between now and the end of the window, it will be intriguing to see if Moyes has any surprises up his sleeve.
