Oscar Piastri says his over-riding mindset heading into his first season of Formula 1, driving for McLaren, is to enjoy it and have fun.

The young Aussie comes into the sport with a promising reputation having enjoyed real success in junior formulae, winning both the F3 and F2 titles in recent years.

Indeed, his rise through the ranks has been meteoric and he deserves his shot on the F1 grid, with him aiming to help McLaren climb the pack and get right back at the front in the coming years, alongside Lando Norris.

There will be tough moments for sure during his maiden campaign in F1 but, ultimately, he is a talented driver and has earned this opportunity, and he'll need to remember that when the difficulties do come along.

Explaining his mindset for his first year on the grid, meanwhile, the Aussie has said he is eager to have some fun and enjoy racing, as well as obviously learning the ropes as much as possible:

“[I want to] just go out and enjoy it. Enjoy my first race for over a year and have some fun and get stuck in," said Piastri.

“As long as I’m following everything as well as I can and learning as much as I can, and doing everything the correct way then I think the results will come naturally.

“So, yeah. Do everything the right way, start off on the right foot. And make sure I have some fun too.”
