Last week, women's football Twitter erupted as Arsenal's Katie McCabe was linked to a move to Women's Super League title rivals Chelsea.

The reigning champions had reportedly tabled a "substantial" bid for the versatile full-back but the Gunners rejected the offer.

Now, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes has indirectly addressed the transfer talks and it seems Arsenal fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

What did Emma Hayes say?

When asked whether Chelsea will be bringing in any new additions before the transfer window shuts, Hayes was clear on the club's stance until the summer.

"I’ve said all along that there will be no players coming in, and I won’t change that perspective, none are going out," she told Capital Football.

“I’ve always maintained this will be a quiet window for us."

Hayes insisted she does not "discuss rumours" and reiterated that this would be a quiet winter window for the Blues.

Indeed, aside from some players leaving on loan, Chelsea have signed just one player in January.

They welcomed 18-year-old Japanese international Maika Hamano to the club earlier this month, before loaning her out immediately to Hammarby IF in Sweden.

This draws the conclusion that the bombshell rumour of McCabe being linked with Chelsea has been put on ice for now at least.

Will Katie McCabe leave Arsenal?

McCabe has been at Arsenal since 2015, after she made her move away from her home city Dublin for the first time.

The 27-year-old has helped the Gunners win the WSL and the FA Cup, and she was named the club's Player of the Year for the 2021/22 season.

After seven years at the club, McCabe has very much become part of the furniture and naturally, fans don't want to see her go.

Luckily for them, both the Arsenal and Chelsea managers have shut down talks of a move.

Jonas Eidevall has stressed there is "absolutely no chance" of the Ireland international leaving the club this window. And of course, Hayes has also said Chelsea will not be doing any further business in January.
