There’s always something remarkable about seeing photos of athletes before they were famous. Indeed, footage of a young Emma Raducanu being interviewed at the Junior Braga Open surfaced online last year, where the Brit predicted her rise to the top. Now, more evidence of the former US Open champion in Braga has been uncovered, with a new image of Raducanu standing alongside another player who ended up turning professional.

Adorable Raducanu photo emerges

In the photo, an 11-year-old Raducanu can be seen alongside French tennis player Giulia Morlet and it’s fair to say the two look absolutely adorable.

The two played one another in the final, where it was Raducanu who ultimately ended up the victor.

Who is Giulia Morlet?

While Morlet has not enjoyed the same level of success as Raducanu on the professional circuit, she is still just 21 years old.

The French player, who attended Arizona State University, has a career-high singles ranking of 1055th.

While she is yet to compete in a Grand Slam singles draw, she played in the 2017 French Open doubles, alongside Diane Parry.

However, the two were defeated in the first round by Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson.

Raducanu satisfied with new coaching setup

Since winning the US Open in September 2021, Raducanu’s coaching team has changed consistently and the Brit was deliberately cautious in her approach to finding her latest mentor.

German coach Sebastien Sachs is the man who has been tasked with guiding the 20-year-old back up through the ranks and it appears Raducanu is more than satisfied with the partnership so far.

“I'm really buying into and trusting the work that I'm doing with Sebastian [Sachs] and the rest of the team,” she said after her Australian Open exit.

“So I'm feeling good and confident that, in six months' time, I know it's not going to be the finished product, but hopefully I would have made strides.”

Raducanu was knocked out in the second round in Melbourne – losing to Coco Gauff in straight sets.

Yet, the Brit played some impressive tennis during the tournament, especially given her injury struggles in the build-up.

“I just have to review the body right now. I've had some niggles in the past few months, and I just need to get that sorted, train, and then we'll see after that,” Raducanu stressed.
