Red Bull are reportedly set to establish a relationship with Ford in the near future, marking the American brand's return to F1 after nearly two decades away.

Ford's last foray into F1 was alongside the Jaguar team, whilst they had an iconic period in the sport in previous decades alongside Cosworth.

They could be set for a return to the grid in the near future, however, with the team that has roots in that Jaguar operation; Red Bull.

The Bulls are launching their season for the 2023 Formula 1 campaign at the end of this week in New York, and are being tipped by Mirror Sport to announce a deal with Ford during that event.

The finer details of the potential partnership are not yet understood, though Ford are not thought to have signed up to the 2026 power unit regulations coming into F1, and so it seems as though them arriving as an engine partner is unlikely.

Indeed, Red Bull are pressing on with their own powertrains project and so other areas of support could instead be provided by Ford.

Porsche, of course, had looked to work alongside Red Bull around the new regulations but a deal never materialised and eventually talks collapsed last year.

All will likely be revealed in the coming days and weeks, then, but if Ford do arrive on the grid in the future it's another nod to the pull Formula 1 is enjoying at the moment both globally and in the US.
