Chelsea look unlikely to sell Conor Gallagher on deadline day with Jorginho moving to Arsenal instead although a late loan exit can't be completely ruled out, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has told GiveMeSport.

There has been interest in Gallagher within the last few days but it now appears the Blues academy graduate could be more likely to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea transfer news - Conor Gallagher and Jorginho

Journalist Simon Phillips reported on GiveMeSport earlier this week that Chelsea's pursuit of Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez could free up Gallagher for a late window departure.

The Blues are indeed working on a deal to sign the Argentine World Cup winner, and it appears relegation-threatened Everton were keen to take advantage of the situation.

They entered talks with Chelsea over a £40m deal for Gallagher, while Newcastle and Crystal Palace were also mooted as potential suitors if Gallagher became available.

However, it now appears a different midfielder is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge - Jorginho is believed to be switching London allegiances and joining Arsenal.

And that could have an impact on Gallagher's immediate future.

What has Michael Bridge said about Conor Gallagher's Chelsea future?

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Bridge has suggested that only one of Gallagher and Jorginho will be leaving Stamford Bridge today, meaning the former now looks set to stay with the Blues.

He told GMS: "From the little bits I heard this morning, it was either going to be Conor Gallagher going out or Jorginho. He's highly regarded by a number of clubs but if Jorginho ends up going to Arsenal which looks to be the case, then Chelsea will have a decision to make.

"Despite Newcastle's interest, I think they'd be reluctant to let him go to what they consider to be a Premier League rival now. I wouldn't completely rule out a late loan deal, but a lot will rest on Graham Potter's decision."

Can Gallagher still make it at Chelsea?

It's been an interesting season for Gallagher. On the one hand, he's still yet to establish himself as an automatic starter for the Blues.

On the other, he's actually featured in all but two of their Premier League games this season, and all but one of their Champions League group stage outings - as per Whoscored. - so he's still very much a useful member of the squad.

Gallagher is both hardworking and adaptable, two key components of Graham Potter's playing philosophy considering the energy and tactical flexibility his Brighton side continually demonstrated.

Throw in the fact Gallagher is still only 22 and there's no reason he can't make it at Stamford Bridge. £40m would've been good money for him at this stage, but in a few years Chelsea might well be very glad that deal didn't pan out.
