Arsenal have not made a third bid for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo but could go back in for him in the summer, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has informed GiveMeSport.

It had been claimed that the Gunners were considering returning to their Premier League rivals after having two offers for the 21-year-old rejected, but Jacobs says they have turned their attention away from him for the time being.

Arsenal transfer news - Moises Caicedo

According to one report from The Sun, Arsenal were set to launch a third bid for Caicedo.

It was thought that this offer was going to be in the region of £75m, which would have made him the north London club's record signing. It appears, though, that that proposal was never submitted in the end.

With Caicedo off the table, Arsenal have since turned to Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

Journalist Simon Phillips told GMS on Tuesday morning that a deal worth around £12m should be completed before tonight's deadline.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Moises Caicedo and Arsenal?

Jacobs has told GMS that no third bid was ever made for Caicedo.

On the Gunners' pursuit of the Ecuadorian, the CBS reporter said: "From Arsenal's point of view, they've moved away. It's not true that there was a third bid this morning or late last night.

"Arsenal stopped after their second bid, which was rejected robustly and within a matter of minutes, and they are conscious that they must protect their relationship with Brighton because they might need to come back for Caicedo if nothing happens elsewhere and do some business in the summer."

Will Arsenal return for Moises Caicedo in the summer?

There is a good chance they do. At 31 years of age, Jorginho is a short-term signing for Arsenal.

The Gunners have quite a young team containing the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli, and it is clear that Mikel Arteta wanted to add Caicedo to the mix.

As well as the Ecuador international, Declan Rice is another midfielder who is thought to be on Arsenal's radar. Still just 24, he would also be a more long-term addition to the squad.

According to The Guardian, the Premier League outfit have actually made the West Ham star their top target for the summer.

It will now be interesting to see whether it is Caicedo or Rice or Caicedo and Rice for Arsenal. If it is the latter, then the Gunners are going to have some team next season.
