Tottenham Hotspur are edging towards completing the signing of Pedro Porro as the Sporting man is currently 'undergoing a medical' at Hotspur Way, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has told GiveMeSport.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his squad ahead of tonight's 11pm transfer deadline, while Matt Doherty is set to join La Liga giants Atletico Madrid on loan to make way for the fellow right-back's arrival.

Tottenham transfer news - Pedro Porro

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Porro is undergoing medical tests ahead of a switch to Tottenham right now.

The respected journalist suggests the Spaniard will pen a five-and-a-half year contract with Spurs despite initially joining on loan from Sporting.

There is growing optimism that Porro will be unveiled as Tottenham's latest signing after intensive talks resulted in an initial temporary deal, which includes an obligation to make the switch permanent for up to £39million, being agreed.

Spurs have managed to reach a compromise after Sporting reneged on terms of the proposed move on Monday, leading to the 23-year-old being left distraught.

Romano has told GiveMeSport that Tottenham could still be in the market for another fresh face after Porro signs on the dotted line in north London.

What has Michael Bridge said about Porro?

Bridge understands that Porro is currently undergoing medical tests ahead of his move to Tottenham being rubber-stamped.

The Sky Sports reporter has hinted Doherty's imminent departure for Atletico could result in the latest arrival being handed the No.2 squad number.

Bridge told GiveMeSport: "Pedro Porro is still undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Tottenham. It's an initial loan for £5million and then will become a permanent deal for £39million. This was a financial deal which Sporting wanted.

"He is clearly a high-profile signing, so some fans will want to get his number on their back. He might even be No.2 due to Matt Doherty's shock loan move to Atletico Madrid, but there has been no confirmation on that as yet."

Is there likely to be any outgoings from Tottenham?

Along with Doherty, another right wing-back appears to be on his way out of Tottenham as, according to Romano, Djed Spence has completed medical tests ahead of a loan switch to Rennes.

It is understood that the move to France does not include an option or obligation to become permanent at the end of the season.

Spence's temporary exit is set to come just a matter of months after he sealed a £20million transfer to Tottenham from Championship side Middlesbrough.

Central midfielder Oliver Skipp has also been identified as a loan target for a number of Premier League clubs just hours ahead of the January window slamming shut.
