Everton will 'definitely look at' signing Andre Ayew if Sean Dyche fails to lure any strikers to Goodison Park ahead of the transfer deadline, journalist Pete O'Rourke has told GiveMeSport.

The Toffees appointed Dyche as their new manager yesterday, having sacked Frank Lampard last week, and he is looking to bolster the squad he has inherited ahead of tonight's 11pm cut-off.

Everton transfer news - Andre Ayew

According to The Independent, Everton are in advanced talks with Ayew as they look to solve their goalscoring issues.

The report suggests the Toffees have struggled to bring in any big-name signings due to having a limited budget during the final hours of the transfer window, meaning Dyche has turned his attentions towards the Ghana international.

Ayew is a free agent after his Al Sadd contract was terminated by mutual consent at the weekend, meaning he could be tempted to Merseyside beyond tonight's deadline.

But Everton are not the 33-year-old's only admirers as West Ham United, Bournemouth, Southampton and Nottingham Forest have also shown an interest.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Everton have been held back on deadline day due to being unable to offer hefty wages to targets.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Ayew?

O'Rourke believes Everton will look to get a deal done for Ayew if they struggle to welcome any fresh faces to Goodison Park ahead of tonight's deadline.

The journalist feels the fact the winger is without a club means they do not need to rush into sealing his arrival.

O'Rourke told GiveMeSport: "I think it's something they'll definitely look at.

"Andre Ayew is now a free agent after leaving his club in the Middle East, so there's no real need for Everton to push this deal through before the deadline."

Would Ayew be a good signing for Everton?

Ayew boasts a reasonably strong Premier League record as, according to Transfermarkt, he has scored 21 goals and registered a further 12 assists in the competition.

That will be an attraction for Dyche as he looks to pick up an Everton squad low on confidence and struggling to find the back of the net, with Wolverhampton Wanderers being the only Premier League side to have been less prolific this season.

Ayew has also left Al Sadd after being a regular name on the scoresheet, having been on target 22 times in 39 outings.

The former West Ham and Swansea City man also showed that he is not afraid to contribute defensively during the World Cup as Sofascore statistics show he averaged 1.3 tackles and one clearance per appearance.

Ayew was handed a 6.25 average match rating by WhoScored in Qatar, while data shows he ranked in Ghana's top five for goals and aerial battles won, so he would be a shrewd signing for Everton, even if it did come as a surprise.
