Stone Cold Steve Austin turned down two offers for matches at WWE WrestleMania 39, it has been claimed.

Steve Austin, at WrestleMania 38 last year, wrestled his first match since 2003 when he shared the rating with Kevin Ownes in the main event of night one.

The match was so good, in fact, that Triple H reportedly contacted Austin several times over the last few months to ask him to wrestle again.

What did Triple H offer to Stone Cold Steve Austin?

As noted, Triple H, who is now WWE's Chief Content Officer, has been in contact with Austin several times over the last few months to try and get him to wrestle at WrestleMania 39.

And now, the Wrestling Observer has confirmed that Stone Cold was offered matches with both Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, WWE's two biggest stars, which he said no to, via WrestleTalk.

He did in fact turn down wrestling at the show. “He was offered Lesnar, he was offered Roman Reigns, he could have named his opponent if he wanted to do it with anybody else, but he did not choose to wrestle on the show.

As the report notes, it wasn't a case of Austin not wanting to wrestle Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar specifically, but rather him just not wanting to work another match.

However, as the report also notes, Austin could well end up being at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles this April, just in a non-wrestling capacity.

What else is Triple H planning for WrestleMania 39?

Stone Cold is not the only WWE legend to have turned down the opportunity to work a match at WrestleMania 39, at least if reports are to be believed.

The Wrestling Observer is also reporting that The Rock has turned down the chance to wrestle his cousin, the aforementioned Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania 39.

For months it's been believed that WWE wanted The Rock to face Roman at the biggest show of the year, but Dwayne Johnson has now stated that he won't be able to make the show.

Some questioned whether or not the report that The Rock wouldn't be at the show was merely a smokescreen to throw fans off the scent of his return, but it now really seems like he's not going to be there.
