Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher will now "have concerns" over his game time at Stamford Bridge, journalist Pete O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT.

Gallagher had been linked with a move away from west London in the January transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise for the England international.

Chelsea transfer news - Conor Gallagher

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Everton submitted a £45 million bid for Gallagher in the final days of the window, with the Premier League strugglers intent on bringing the midfielder to the club.

It was later reported by David Ornstein that Gallagher would be staying at Chelsea beyond the January transfer window, despite the addition of Enzo Fernandez late in the day.

Everton weren't alone in their pursuit of Gallagher, with various Premier League sides including Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Newcastle United all interested, according to The Athletic's Ornstein.

While Chelsea were reportedly open to letting Gallagher leave during the January window, the Blues believed the offers they received were below their valuation.

Gallagher, who earns a reported £50,000 per week at Chelsea, will now be forced to stick with the club until the summer transfer window at least.

However, there are already some suggestions Gallagher might get disgruntled at his allotted playing time, given the additions Chelsea have made in his position.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Gallagher's game time?

One of the major talking points throughout a hectic deadline day, Gallagher's decision to stick around at Stamford Bridge could hamper his playing time, some have claimed.

In an interview with GMS, journalist Pete O'Rourke expressed concern about how often Gallagher could see the pitch in the coming weeks.

On the 22-year-old, O'Rourke claimed: "I’m sure Conor Gallagher will have concerns.

"Any player at a club seeing your team sign players in your position, it’s definitely going to be a concern for you.”

Can Gallagher force his way back into the Chelsea squad?

While at times it has been due to necessities surrounding injuries, Gallagher has featured regularly under Graham Potter, making 25 appearances in all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Deployed in a number of different positions, it remains likely that Gallagher's versatility can still be of use to Chelsea, as they look to climb their way back into top-four contention.

Perhaps Gallagher's most helpful asset for Chelsea is his work rate, with the midfielder having offered crucial cover to an at times leaky backline.

According to FBref, Gallagher ranks inside the top 10 per cent of all midfielders for blocks made per 90 minutes, indicating he still has qualities that could be of use to manager Potter.
