Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have been back behind the wheel of the Mercedes W13, taking part in a Pirelli tyre test at Circuit Paul Ricard in France.

The two British drivers might not want to have seen the W13 anymore after the end of 2022 given the struggles it gave them at times last season, but they have been driving it in France this week as part of a tyre test for Pirelli's 2023 rubber.

It's an opportunity to get to grips with the new tyres at least, and that is going to obviously be important to get on top of as they look to return to top spot in the coming months.

The W14 is unveiled later on this month by the team and many are expecting them to be challenging back up at the front in it, having used the W13 as a real learning curve over the course of 2022.

Indeed, by the end of last season they were starting to look pretty competitive, and if that trend continues we can perhaps expect them to have a better season in 2023 and certainly a better start.

The two day test at Paul Ricard will be followed by another next week at Jerez in Spain, as preparations ahead of the 2023 campaign continue.
