Liverpool can’t be ruled out of making a move for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moisés Caicedo at Anfield, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport.

Jürgen Klopp will be looking to revamp his midfield, with the club set to lose four players in the position come the end of the season.

Liverpool transfer news – Moisés Caicedo

As per reports, Caicedo was the subject of interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs last month, with Arsenal having a second bid worth £70m rejected for the midfielder towards the end of the window, which fell short of Brighton’s £80m asking price.

Liverpool have also been suggested to be one of the clubs who were interested in the 21-year-old’s signature in January alongside Chelsea, but a move to Anfield never transpired, with the Reds’ top target seemingly being that of Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham.

Journalist Rudy Galetti confirmed to GiveMeSport last month that the Reds were monitoring Caicedo’s situation during the winter window, but the midfielder remained at the Amex Stadium where he will stay until at least the end of the season.

However, Jacobs believes that you cannot rule out a possible Liverpool move for Caicedo, but they will have to see monetary value in the transfer.

What has Jacobs said about Liverpool and Caicedo?

Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “I think Liverpool do need an engine room midfielder and Jude Bellingham falls into that category. You can't rule out Moses Caicedo as an option. But Liverpool will have to see value in that and they didn't in January.”

Would Caicedo be a good signing for Liverpool?

Caicedo – who has been lauded as the “crown-jewel” of Ecuadorian football by Enrico Castro-Montes – could prove to be an excellent signing for Klopp’s side if he was to sign on the dotted line at Anfield.

The Brighton star has played in 91% of available Premier League minutes for Roberto De Zerbi’s side this season, hitting the back of the net once whilst providing a singular assist in that time.

It is in the defensive aspect of his game where the 28-cap Ecuador international specialises, achieving an average Sofascore rating of 7.11 for the current campaign after having made 1.4 interceptions and 2.9 tackles per game, indicating that he has been key for the Seagulls in breaking up the play for the opposition.

Therefore, the signing of Caicedo would likely prove to be a gem of an addition for the Merseyside outfit, but Liverpool’s pursual of Bellingham could mean that a move for the Brighton star will have to be put on the back burner for now.
