Manchester United fans have hit back at former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor after the talkSPORT pundit took a swipe at the club's Brazilian winger, Antony.

The 22-year-old joined the Red Devils from Ajax for £86 million last summer, but has managed just three Premier League goals since arriving at Old Trafford and has yet to produce a top-flight assist.

Given his price tag, Antony has faced criticism from club legends such as Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville for his underwhelming start at the 'Theatre of Dreams'.

Speaking during an appearance on talkSPORT on Thursday, Agbonlahor went in hard on the Brazilian, even mocking his trademark spin.

"When I look at Antony, I think he is a bluffer," explained the ex-England international.

"I think when he gets the ball he doesn’t take anyone on, he hasn’t got the speed to take anyone on. 11 league games, three goals, no assists.

Antony applauds Man Utd fans

"The big thing for me is Antony’s number of crosses. He puts in 1.5 per game. He’s doing his tricks, he’s cutting in, cutting back!

"It's not good enough. He does this turn [trick] as well… It’s embarrassing and he needs to liven up."

While Antony's numbers in his first season at United might not be earth-shattering, they haven't been anywhere near as desperate as Agbonlahor's own stats during Aston Villa's 3-1 Premier League defeat against Tottenham in November 2015.

So ineffective was Agbonlahor during the first period of the match that Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Frank Lampard couldn't help cracking up when analysing his pitch map for the opening 45 minutes on Monday Night Football.

"I had to check. I thought ‘that’s not right’. Eight touches in the first half – that’s the lowest number of touches for any player this season in the Premier League," Neville revealed. "And two of them were kick-offs!"

At this point, the panel burst into laughter at just how little impact Agbonlahor has had on the game.

United fans were quick to point out the irony of the video following Agbonlahor's recent rant against their player and you can check out the best of their reaction below.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Agbonlahor didn't get a chance to add to his eight first-half touches as he was substituted at half-time.

The disastrous performance summed up an awful 2015/16 season for the Villa man. He managed just a single Premier League goal across the campaign as the Midlands club suffered relegation to the Championship.

All of a sudden, Antony's three Premier League goals in 11 outings don't quite look so bad!
