Ruben Neves was on the scoresheet as Wolves crushed Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Wolves climbed out of the relegation zone with a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Reds at Molineux.

The home side raced into a two-goal lead after just 12 minutes thanks to early goals from Joel Matip (own-goal) and Craig Dawson.

The Portuguese midfielder was picked out by Adama Traore inside the box and he made no mistake from eight yards out.

Ruben Neves sends message to Marcus Rashford after goal

Neves appeared to send a message to Marcus Rashford while celebrating his goal vs Liverpool.

In recent weeks, Rashford has been celebrating his goals by pointing to the side of his head.

It has sparked a trend with many footballers, including Joshua Kimmich, celebrating in the same manner.

Rashford has shared some high profile footballers doing the celebration on social media.

It turns out that Neves has been doing the celebration for the majority of his career.

There are examples of him celebrating his goals in the same manner as far back as 2018.

So, with many dubbing the celebration to be Rashford's in recent times, Neves felt the need to clear things up.

Fan footage shows Neves pointing to himself and then to his celebration as if to say 'it's mine'. View the moment below...

How has Ruben Neves performed this season?

Wolves have been struggling for large chunks of the season but Neves has been one of their standout performers.

The Portuguese midfielder is having one of his most productive campaigns in front of goal.

He's scored five times in the Premier League and has already matched his best ever tally in England's top tier.

Neves may not be a Wolves player much longer. The 25-year-old's contract runs out in 2024 and a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs could be on the cards.
