Liverpool still have Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moisés Caicedo on their radar as the Anfield outfit look ahead to the summer transfer window, journalist Rudy Galetti has told GiveMeSport.

Jürgen Klopp will be looking at revamping his options in the centre of the park ahead of what could be the beginning of a rebuilding project come the end of the season.

Liverpool transfer news – Moisés Caicedo

It has been a whirlwind few weeks for Caicedo after the Brighton midfielder implored the club’s chairman Tony Bloom to allow him to leave the Amex Stadium before the closure of the winter transfer window after the Seagulls had turned down bids from Chelsea and Arsenal for his services.

The latter are thought to have offered £70m towards the end of the winter window, but the Seagulls stood firm insisting that he was worth at least £80m.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that a move from Liverpool for the 21-year-old’s signature can’t be ruled out in the summer, with the Reds having four midfielders out of contract at the end of the campaign.

And Galetti believes that Caicedo is “on the Liverpool radar” as the Merseyside outfit look ahead to next season and beyond.

What has Galetti said about Liverpool and Caicedo?

The Italian journalist told GiveMeSport: “Klopp requested a midfielder already in January and the list for the summer to date is practically the same. Moisés Caicedo is on the Liverpool radar.”

Would Caicedo be a good signing for Liverpool?

Caicedo – who has been described as a “revelation” by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig – would likely be an excellent signing for Klopp’s new-look midfield next season.

The 28-cap Ecuador international has enjoyed a fine campaign so far, making 19 Premier League appearances in which time he has provided both a singular goal and an assist.

The dynamo compares favourably to his positional peers on the continent, ranking in the top 16% of midfielders across Europe’s big five leagues as well as the Champions League and Europa League for tackles made per 90 minutes (2.78) over the last 365 days, according to FBref.

It is the defensive side of Caicedo’s game in which he excels as shown by the fact that he has averaged 2.9 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game throughout the current Premier League campaign, as per WhoScored.

Therefore, a move for Caicedo could be a sensible option for Klopp in the summer, as he looks to bring in a new-look midfield to Anfield next season ahead of what could be a pivotal 12 months for the German head coach.
