Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte will be 'patient' with new signing Pedro Porro as the 23-year-old learns to adapt to his role as a wing-back, journalist Paul Brown has informed GIVEMESPORT.

Arnaut Danjuma accompanied the Spaniard as January arrivals in North London to try and bolster Spurs' chances of a top-four finish.

Tottenham latest news - Pedro Porro

On deadline day, Tottenham brought in Porro from Sporting Lisbon on an initial loan deal worth £5 million for the remainder of the season, as reported by Sky Sports News.

In the summer, there is an obligation-to-buy inserted into the deal for £39 million, which will see the former Manchester City defender join the club permanently.

Since completing his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Porro is yet to make an appearance for his new side. Emerson Royal has been used in the right wing-back position and put in an excellent display for the Lilywhites in their 1-0 victory over Manchester City last weekend.

Tottenham also allowed two right-sided defenders to depart the club in January, with Djed Spence going to Rennes on a loan deal while Matt Doherty terminated his contract at the club before joining Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

What has Paul Brown said about Pedro Porro?

Journalist Paul Brown believes that it will take Porro time to adapt to Conte's 'specialist' wing-back role, which may mean Spurs fans have to be 'patient' with their new signing.

Brown told GMS: "It's never easy for a player to learn what Conte wants from them when you play his wing-back role, it's quite a specialist position and he's very demanding, so there's no guarantee that Porro will hit the ground running, go straight in the team and play every week.

"It's happened at all of Conte's clubs where they've signed him wing-backs and it's taken a good few weeks, whoever that person is, for them to get used to exactly what he wants and for Conte to trust them enough to use them, so I think Spurs fans might have to be patient with Porro."

What will Pedro Porro add to Tottenham Hotspur?

Porro is a talented wing-back that has been a standout player in Liga Portugal for Sporting Lisbon in the first half of this term, impressing with his ability to support the attack and provide a consistent end product.

In 2022/23, the 23-year-old has been in fine form across all competitions, recording three goals and 11 assists in 26 appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

WhoScored also shows that the Spain international has recorded an average match rating of 7.19/10 in the Portuguese top-flight this campaign, demonstrating his ability to perform at a high level over a prolonged period.

By putting in the groundwork on the training field under Conte's instruction, Porro could be a star for Tottenham in the Premier League in the coming seasons if given the platform.
