Everton could still look to make additions to Sean Dyche’s squad through the free-agent market following the closure of the January transfer window last week, journalist Paul Brown has told GiveMeSport.

The Goodison Park outfit failed to produce any signings during last month’s winter market.

Everton transfer news – Free agents

Having had a destabilising January following a poor run of form that led to the sacking of head coach Frank Lampard, Everton were unable to add any new faces to the squad as new manager Dyche looks to steer the club away from relegation to the Championship.

The Toffees found themselves light on options following the conclusion of the winter transfer window, having sold academy product Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United for £45m before failing to find an adequate replacement for the England U21 star.

Meanwhile, Brown has also told GiveMeSport that the Premier League outfit’s owner Farhad Moshiri would be happy to “sell tomorrow” if he could, further heightening the current sense of turmoil at Goodison Park.

And the journalist believes that the Everton hierarchy could bow to the pressure from the fans and make additions to the squad through the free-agent market in a bid to remain in the top flight.

What has Brown said about Everton?

Brown told GiveMeSport: “I know the deadline has passed, but there are still free agents out there and it would not surprise me if Everton bowed to the pressure and brought one of those in, despite them not being high on their wish list at the beginning of the window.”

What next for Everton?

Everton have attempted to secure the signature of one free agent since the beginning of the month after it seemed André Ayew was destined for a move to Goodison Park, having recently had his contract terminated at Qatari outfit Al-Sadd.

However, the 33-year-old rejected the Toffees’ advances and made the switch to Nottingham Forest, where he has linked up with Steve Cooper at the City Ground.

Meanwhile, The Express reports that former Real Madrid and Spain midfielder Isco has been offered to the Merseyside giants, after the 30-year-old was released from Sevilla this winter, having struggled to adapt to life at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium.

The five-time Champions League winner would likely offer vital experience and quality to Dyche’s side as the 51-year-old looks to prevent Everton’s first relegation from the top flight since 1951.

Therefore, it seems as though the Everton board will be scrambling around the free market over the coming weeks, in a bid to bolster their squad and improve their chances of survival come the end of the campaign.
