Leeds United striker Rodrigo has 'difficulties' with his injury and isn't expected to return for another ' six to eight' weeks, injury expert Ben Dinnery has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The Whites have recently sacked Jesse Marsch as manager, with only goal difference keeping them out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Leeds injury news - Rodrigo

Last month, Leeds United confirmed on their official club website that Rodrigo had sustained bone and ligament damage to his ankle in their 3-1 victory in the FA Cup over Accrington Stanley, ruling him out for some time as he underwent minor surgery.

The report states that the 31-year-old is not expected to return to action at Elland Road until the end of March at the earliest as he steps up his recovery from injury.

Patrick Bamford has mainly deputised for the Spaniard during his absence; however, has scored just one goal in 13 appearances this term, as per Transfermarkt.

Leeds United also dipped into the January market for a new forward, bringing in Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim, who has featured twice for his new employers as he gets up to speed with the rigours of Premier League football.

What has Ben Dinnery said about Rodrigo?

Dinnery has echoed the sentiment of recent reports, stating that we won't see Rodrigo return to first-team action at Elland Road until late March at the earliest.

Dinnery told GMS: "Yes, I think we're probably looking at, you know, the back end of March or beginning of April; it's around about a six to eight-week timeline. The difficulties and the problems we have with Leeds, we're talking about a side that is currently bottom half for goals scored and very much near, you know, the top in terms of the number of goals that they've conceded. So there's an imbalance there."

How much to Leeds miss Rodrigo leading the line?

In short, Rodrigo has been in excellent form in the Premier League and is a massive miss for Leeds United, with the 31-year-old recording ten goals and one assist from 18 Premier League matches, as per Transfermarkt.

WhoScored also notes that the striker has recorded an average of 2.9 shots per match in the English top flight this campaign, regularly causing a threat to opposition backlines with his intelligent movement and eye for goal.

It has been quite the turnaround for Rodrigo at Elland Road, with reports emerging in 2021 that he was allegedly keen to leave Leeds United in search of a new challenge.

Now, he is almost indispensable to their chances of staying in the Premier League and everyone connected with the club will hope he returns fighting fit as soon as possible.
