Emerson Royal and Lucas Moura were playing a game of FIFA 23 with Richarlison and what looks like a friend of one of the Tottenham Hotspur players, and after scoring, Royal and Moura teased their teammate with his own trademark celebration.Spurs’ Brazilian duo teased Richarlison by doing his own pigeon celebration in front of him, which certainly did not go down well with the Tottenham forward, nevertheless, those who were watching the video game on the TV found the celebration by the duo extremely amusing.The forward started “the pigeon dance” known as the Pombo dance from the little-known pop group called Os Perseguidores after he scored his first goal for Brazil back in 2018, and the dance has remained well-liked in the country where Richarlison is from Brazil.Shortly after joining Everton, the 25-year-old explained his reasoning for doing the pigeon dance, which has shot up in popularity over the last years as Richarlison has found the back of the net 48 times for both Watford and Everton in the Premier League.

Why does Richarlison do the pigeon dance?

​​"The pigeon dance came from a group from Rio de Janeiro who had a song in around 2012," he explained after completing his switch to Everton.

"A trend was started when I did the dance at home. Everyone started copying me.

"I think I’ve helped the band’s profile grow because of that. I am hoping to score goals and do the dance I promised, the pigeon dance."

However, the Tottenham fans have not seen the pigeon celebration in the Premier League just yet, nevertheless, he has scored twice for Spurs, with both goals coming in their 2-0 UEFA Champions League win over Marseille four months ago.

Two months ago, Richarlison’s pigeon celebration became famous during the World Cup as he got the Brazil coach Tite to do his trademark celebration after the former Everton striker scored against South Korea in a 4-1 win during the group stages in Qatar.

Spurs are next in action in the Premier League away to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday at 3pm UK time, before facing AC Milan in a crunch Round of 16 Champions League clash at the San Siro on February 14 at 8pm UK time.
