Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves 'will have plenty of offers' from suitors looking to prise him away from Molineux in the summer, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

Head coach Julen Lopetegui spent more than £30million as he bolstered his squad in January, but there could be a big-name Wolves departure in the coming months.

Wolves transfer news - Ruben Neves

According to The Athletic, Neves is likely to seal his Wolves exit before the 2023/24 campaign gets underway later this year.

The report suggests the West Midlands outfit have been unable to persuade the Portugal international to sign a new contract and they cannot afford for him to run down his current agreement and leave as a free agent in the not-too-distant future.

Neves has entered the final 18 months of his current deal, which is worth £58,000-per-week, meaning he could even sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club next January.

Alex Crook, the talkSPORT reporter, recently told GiveMeSport that Wolves are anticipating that their captain will move onto pastures new at the end of the season.

Neves was on Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur's radar during the January transfer window, while Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona are known to be long-term admirers.

What has Dean Jones said about Neves?

Jones believes Neves should leave Wolves during the summer and join a side challenging for regular silverware.

The transfer insider is confident that the central midfielder will attract plenty of interest if it becomes clear that he is seeking a move.

Jones told GiveMeSport: "When he turns it on, you do realise that he probably should be playing for somebody else.

"Any club that is typically in the mid-to-bottom half of the Premier League knows when they've got a player that's probably too good for them and you just hold onto them for dear life. But Ruben Neves, I'm sure, will have plenty of offers."

Would Neves' exit come as a huge blow for Wolves?

Neves is one of the first names on the team-sheet and, according to Transfermarkt, he has racked up 41 goal contributions in 238 Wolves appearances.

He became the Championship's record signing when he completed a switch worth £15.8million from Porto in 2017 and, having played a key role in his current employers' surge into the Premier League, he has gone on to showcase his talent in the top flight.

Neves has been handed a 7.01 average match rating by WhoScored, meaning he has been Wolves' most consistent performer this season.

While the West Midlands side have only found the back of the net 15 times since the Premier League campaign got underway, the 25-year-old has bagged a third of those goals.

Sofascore statistics show Neves has also averaged 2.6 clearances, 2.5 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per domestic outing this term, so it is abundantly clear that he will leave a huge void in Wolves' midfield if he leaves Molineux.
