What separates the top, top players from everyone else?

One word. Consistency.

The likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo produce moments of magic in almost every match, something that few others can claim they do.

One man that certainly doesn’t do that is Mesut Ozil.

The German is, without doubt, one of the best playmakers in world football on his day - proven by his performance just last week against Chelsea.

But his display against Burnley this afternoon was the polar opposite.

In a match that the Gunners were expected to win fairly comfortably, the 27-year-old should have been creating chance after chance as Arsenal looked for their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions.

But his failure to unlock the Burnley defence meant that his side struggled to a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley with an injury-time goal from Laurent Koscielny.

In fact, Ozil he was so poor that Arsenal fans were absolutely furious at his performance on Twitter.

Check out some of their reaction:

And there's plenty more where that came from....

While they may not have been too impressed with Ozil’s performance, Arsenal fans will be delighted to pick up all three points.

Since picking up just one point from their opening two matches against Liverpool and Leicester, the north London club have now won five matches on the bounce and are just two points behind Manchester City.

Arsenal supporters will just be hoping Ozil returns to his best after the international break when their next three league matches are: Swansea (H), Middlesbrough (H), Sunderland (A) - three fixtures that Ozil will surely be licking his lips at.
