Andrey Arshavin has made headlines in Kazakhstan today - but not for what you would expect.

The Russian, now at FC Kairat, has scored eight goals so far in the Kazakhstan Premier League and by doing so has won a bet.

When Arshavin signed in the summer, blogger Peter Volikova promised to shave his head if the ex-Arsenal and Zenit winger scored more than seven goals in the season.

And so, Arshavin was able to get his revenge by removing Volikova's hair in front of a packed shopping centre in Almaty.

Footage has since emerged of the 35-year-old looking very smug, which you can watch below.

Having been written off as an expensive flop at the beginning of the season by the blogger, this must have been a satisfying experience for Arshavin.

Instagram images have also surfaced, with Volikova captured clearly regretting his bold comments.

This is a player who has scored 189 career goals in some of Europe's toughest club competitions; he was always going to hit the ground running in Kazakhstan.

Long gone are the days when we saw Arshavin terrorise Premier League defences with his pace and dribbling, but the diminutive forward clearly still has an eye for goal.

Revenge certainly looked sweet for former Russia international.
