Memphis Depay posts image with Paul Pogba after France beat Holland

Paul Pogba was already one of the biggest stars in world football before he completed his record-breaking transfer back to Manchester United this summer.

Perhaps he hasn't quite reached the level of stardom Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi enjoy but the midfielder is still one of the most recognisable players on the planet.

The 23-year-old has been back at Old Trafford for over two months now but it would appear he can still make a certain Man United star feel starstruck.

Pogba was in action for France against Holland on Monday in a match which also featured Anthony Martial, Daley Blind and Memphis Depay.

The £89 million summer signing scored the only goal of the game with a long-range strike that Maarten Stekelenburg could only parry into the corner of the net.

And despite being nutmegged by Blind later on, Depay was still left in awe of his club teammate - if his latest Instagram post is anything to go by anyway.

Depay has found playing time in the Premier League hard to come by this season but the Dutch international would have still had plenty of time training alongside Pogba to get past the starstruck stage, well that's what you would assume.

After the 1-0 defeat, Depay took to Instagram to post the caption: "Damn... Take it on the chin, and carry on," accompanied by an image of himself being consoled by his Man United teammate following the final whistle.

But as you can see, Depay's face in the photo was virtually an invitation for hilarious captions and memes.

The 22-year-old has endured a tricky spell at Old Trafford since moving in 2015 but showed a glimpse of what he could do with a very neat turn that left recent Arsenal target Djibril Sidibe looking quite foolish.

There have been rumours of late suggesting Jose Mourinho has set the winger a January deadline to prove his worth for the Red Devils or risk being sold on.

Mourinho currently prefers Martial and Marcus Rashford on the left wing so Depay will have to make the most of every opportunity he gets to stand any chance of staying at the club and more importantly, with Pogba.
