The Golden State Warriors continued their preparations for the new NBA season last night with an exhibition game against Western Conference rivals the Denver Nuggets.

While much of the focus was on their star-studded starting line-up, it was a rookie that stole the show as the Dubs won in overtime.

Former UNLV player Patrick McCaw, who was selected with the 38th pick in this year's draft, ended the night with 18 points with five of those coming in clutch moments.

The young shooting guard nailed a three with a second left on the clock to take the game to overtime before finishing the encounter with a floater at the buzzer to give Golden State a 129-128 victory.

Of course, it is only preseason, but given the question marks over the Warriors' depth following the arrival of Kevin Durant, it was good to see the youngster step up in a big moment.

It was an impressive performance from McCaw, who shot 60 percent from the field on his 10 attempts and was 4-6 from three, he also had six rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Stephen Curry, Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all played in excess of 20 minutes at the Pepsi Center.
