Mesut Ozil is certainly enjoying his birthday weekend.

The Arsenal playmaker – who turned 28 on Saturday – scored in the Gunners’ 3-2 victory over Swansea and helped his side to the top of the Premier League, temporarily at least.

The goal was his third in the league this season, and proved to be the difference as Arsene Wenger’s ten men stumbled over the line to claim all three points against a determined Swans outfit.

However, while Manchester City have since reclaimed their place at the summit of the table via a 1-1 draw at home to Everton, Ozil has not let the result dampen his spirits.

Soon after netting all-important goal the Emirates, the Germany international posted a video on Facebook of top players wishing him a happy birthday.

The six-minute video – starring players past and presenting including Robert Pires, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and a host of his club and international colleagues – includes a short clip of Ozil reacting as he watches each message.

He also wrote a heartfelt caption to accompany the video, which read:

"Thank you to all my friends, teammates and of course my fans for your overwhelming birthday wishes.

"I'd like to share this special video from my team with you - what a surprise!

"I'm blessed to have you all.”

Ozil has yet again been a crucial figure for the Gunners this season, but his manager believes there is plenty more still to come from the club record signing.

Following the birthday boy’s volley against Swansea, Wenger has demanded he take more shots at goal given his unquestionable ability to produce the spectacular.

Hardly a surprising request from the Frenchman considering the quality of Ozil’s latest strike.
