Thomas Muller is one of those footballers that every fan can admire.

From the outside looking in, the Germany international doesn't appear to excel in any particular skill that would make him "world class". Yet, his tireless work ethic and ability to be in the right place at the right time make him one of the world's most feared forwards.

And the Muller fan club will have grown in number this weekend after the Bayern Munich star suffered a nasty looking eye injury in Bundesliga action on Saturday but rallied to finish the game anyway. Scroll down to see the nasty looking gash.

As part of the Bayern starting XI yesterday, Muller was taking on Eintracht Frankfurt when he was left with a nasty wound above his right eye that saw blood pouring out of the wound.

It was the flailing elbow of on-loan Chelsea defender Michael Hector that caught the 81-cap German international and left him in serious pain.

The images look a lot like the head injury Barcelona star Neymar suffered on international duty with Brazil last week.

However, unlike the Barca man who was forced off not long after his injury against Bolivia, Muller was able to carry on in a game that ultimately ended in a frustrating 2-2 draw for Bayern.

All it took was a few butterfly stitches and the 27-year-old forward was back making a nuisance of himself leading the line for the German champions.

Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti will be relieved that Muller isn't facing any serious time on the sidelines, too, after how things have gone in recent weeks.

After a perfect start to life as manager in Munich, the former Chelsea boss has now seen his side play out two draws in a row in the league, whilst they also suffered defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
