Martin Tyler is widely regarded as the best commentator in the business.

The 71-year-old has provided many memorable moments during illustrious career with Sky Sports, but appears to be rapidly losing fans among the Liverpool faithful.

Reds’ supporters were angry with Tyler for his commentary during Chelsea v Liverpool last month, and they were left fuming once again for his reaction to Philippe Coutinho’s shot against Manchester United’s David de Gea on Monday night.

The Brazilian almost curled in a Goal of the Month contender but was denied a famous goal by United’s world-class Spanish shot-stopper.

However, you wouldn’t have guessed it was the best moment of the match by Tyler’s muted commentary.

“Ah, well,” Tyler, who perhaps was on the verge of falling asleep up in the gantry, said.

The previous 70 minutes up until that point had, after all, been tedious to say the least.

Sky has built up this fixture during the international break but it turned out to be an awful spectacle - particularly for the neutrals.
