Jose Mourinho signed the France international to produce the goods in the big matches, but the £89 million man was anonymous against United’s fierce rivals.
The Daily Mail handed Pogba a 5/10 rating, adding that he “still seems to be struggling under the burden of that world record transfer fee”.
In fairness to Pogba, he did produce one moment of quality which could have led to a goal in the second half.
It was the Frenchman who provided the cross from which Zlatan Ibrahimovic really ought to have converted from a few yards out.
Mourinho expected more from Pobga
But that was as good as it got for Pogba, whose manager admitted in his post-match interview with Sky Sports that he expected more from the club’s mega-money summer signing.
"Had it been 1-0, it would have been finished," Mourinho said. "Where Pogba was playing, I was expecting more penetration.
"Defensively we did really well, we should have had a little bit more. We had a big chance that I thought Zlatan was going to score."

Pogba’s poor performance, however, can’t be put down to a lack of effort.
The 23-year-old clearly wanted to make an impact, but very little came off for him against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

It seems that Pogba is currently suffering from a crisis of confidence.
This would explain his poor touches, decision making and shooting against the Reds on Monday evening.
Pogba takes to Instagram after the match
After the match, Pogba posted the following message on Instagram: “Good game, hard work, good team spirit... on to the next one 👊🏿 @manchesterunited #mufc”.
