It’s safe to assume that Samuel Eto’o isn’t short on money.

The Cameroon international has amassed a fortune during his illustrious career; with the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea all paying him astronomical wages.

For a couple of years at Anzhi Makhachkala, meanwhile, Eto’o was the highest paid footballer in the world - earning in the region of £350,000 a week.

The 35-year-old is now coming to the end of his career but is still scoring goals on a fairly regular basis with Antalyaspor.

The Turkish club, however, have endured a disastrous start to the 2016-17 campaign and currently sit rock bottom of the table with three points secured from their first seven matches.

However, Eto’o is confident that his side possesses the quality required to turn the situation around.

So confident, in fact, that he’s promised to give one Antalyaspor fan a whopping €100,000 if the team finishes 11th or lower in the Turkish Super Lig this term.

The fan - named in Turkish press as Mehmet Akdeniz, according to Goal - asked Eto'o: "We have Besiktas next, what will the state of the team be and when will we win?"

Eto’o then responded: "We will finish in the top 10 of the Super Lig, I stand by what I said and my promise.

"Believe me, I will give you €100,000 if we don't finish in the top 10."

Eto’o took Mehmet’s name and phone number before heading off into the night.

Antalyaspor desperately need a win

Despite their perilous league position, Antalyaspor are only five points behind 10th-placed Gaziantepspor.

But without a win in their first seven matches, Eto’o and his teammates know it’s vital they pick up their first victory sooner rather than later.
