Barcelona rallied from 2-1 down to beat Valencia this afternoon courtesy of a last minute penalty by Lionel Messi.

Alongside an earlier strike from the Argentinian and a goal from Luis Suarez, the converted spot kick was enough to grab a crucial three points in the notoriously tough environment that is Valencia's Estadio Mestalla.

Unfortunately, though, there were some ugly scenes as Barcelona celebrated Messi's last-gasp winner as the home crowd threw various objects in the direction of Luis Enrique's team. And, as you can see in the video further down this article, Neymar was left on the ground in serious pain after one water bottle struck him in the head.

No fan likes to see their team lose in the last minute, especially when they had been within touching distance of upsetting one of the best teams in the world.

Nevertheless, there is never any excuse for taking that frustration out by intentionally trying to harm one of the opposition players. Judging by the footage below, that is exactly what one idiotic Valencia fan attempted on Saturday afternoon.

As you can see, the bottle lands directly in the huddle of Barcelona teammates who had rushed to congratulate Messi on his crucial penalty.

While Suarez was clearly caught in the face, it was his strike partner Neymar who appeared to bear the brunt of it.

Barcelona fans won't like to see their star man in any sort of pain, but they will have loved the reaction from Messi as he fronted up to the Valencia fans.

It might not have been the smartest move by the Argentina star considering the referee and security will have wanted to calm down the situation as soon as possible.

But at least it shows the unity within the Barcelona squad on the back of what could be a priceless win come the end of the season.

And, when you consider that Andres Iniesta was early stretchered off the pitch with what looked like a serious knee injury, you can understand why Messi was so angry after seeing another teammate fall to the ground in pain.
