Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t been at his imperious best at the start of this season.
Two goals in six league appearances - including four in nine in all competitions - is a disappointing return for a player who has scored over 50 goals in each of the past six seasons.
With the pressure building on Ronaldo’s shoulders, the 31-year-old was obviously desperate to get himself on the scoresheet for Real Madrid against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday evening.
He wasn’t able to find the back of the net, despite having 11 attempts at goal during the 90 minutes.
The Portuguese international made headlines for his bizarre reaction after Alvaro Morata’s winner in the 83rd minute, while he was also heavily criticised in the final minute of stoppage time after selfishlessly messing up a 3 v 1.

Twitter accuses Ronaldo of being selfish
Ronaldo, one-on-one with Gorka Iraizoz, shot straight at the Athletic goalkeeper instead of passing to one of his two unmarked teammates to his left-hand side.
Had he passed, Real Madrid would almost certainly have scored their third goal of the evening and made sure of the three points.
Perhaps if the chance had occurred five minutes earlier in the match, Ronaldo would have squared the ball - but he was so desperate to score that he decided to take it on himself.
His teammates, meanwhile, were visibly frustrated that Ronaldo had opted to shoot instead of pass.
In the end, though, it didn’t matter. Real Madrid held on to secure all three points and climbed to the top of La Liga after former league-leaders Atletico Madrid suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sevilla earlier in the day.
