With Liverpool sitting joint-top of the Premier League, it was perhaps understandable that Jurgen Klopp made 11 changes for the EFL Cup clash against Tottenham.

The formidable quartet of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana were all given the night off with Klopp giving some youngsters the opportunity to impress under the lights at Anfield.

It was a particularly big night for two players in particular.

Both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria were making their full Liverpool debuts at 18-years-old.

While Alexander-Arnold looked assured at right-back, Ejaria impressed in central midfield.

Ejaria may only be 18 but he showed incredible strength and power during the 90 minutes as he helped his side progress to the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory.

And a 30-second clip has emerged on Twitter showing off his highlights during the encounter. In the short video, Ejaria shrugs off his opponents on numerous occasions and is also seen selling Erik Lamela for a hotdog with a lovely turn.

Check out his video highlights:

It’s hard not to look at Ejaria and think of Paul Pogba. Both have very similar stature and have the ability to dominate a midfielder. Ok, Pogba may be one of the best midfielders in world football and Ejaria is just starting his career but that didn't stop Liverpool supporters making that exact comparison.

Following his performance for Liverpool last night, supporters wasted no time to troll Manchester United by claiming Ejaria is actually better than the world’s most expensive footballer.

Check out the best reaction below:

Of course, Liverpool fans don’t actually think their youngster is better than United’s summer signing. However, after the encouraging display from the 18-year-old, they will be hoping he can develop into a regular for the first-team in the coming years.
