Joey Barton trolls Neymar for his second-half performance vs Manchester City

Joey Barton has been made to look incredibly foolish after his tweet regarding Barcelona star Neymar went viral in March 2013.

The controversial midfielder tweeted: “Neymar is the Justin Bieber of football. Brilliant on the old You Tube. Cat piss in reality…”

Of course, the Brazilian has gone on to become one of the best forwards in world football and has well and truly embarrassed Barton since he made his statement.

But the Rangers midfielder clearly hasn’t had enough of mocking Neymar and did so once again tonight.

After Barcelona and Neymar impressed in the first-half of their Champions League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad, they were blown away in the second 45.

Neymar laid on a lovely pass for Lionel Messi to give the Catalans the lead before Ilkay Gundogan equalised for the home side before the break.

But, after the break, it was a totally different match.

We saw very little of Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar as goals from Kevin de Bruyne and another from Gundogan saw them run out comfortable 3-1 winners in the end.

But Barton wasn’t simply going to allow Barcelona - and Neymar in particular - get away with their display after the break.

He sarcastically tweeted: Still unsure as to why Neymar went off at HT? Anyone know why?” to highlight his anonymous performance in the second-half.

While Neymar is currently representing Barcelona in the Champions League, Barton is still suspended from his club Rangers in the Scottish Premier League.

So, we’re not sure Neymar will really care what Barton has got to say about him.
