The training ground rondo has had many a high-profile victim over recent years.
From Raphael Varane and Zinedine Zidane to Gerard Pique, there have been plenty of big name players left embarrassed by teammates as they tried to win the ball back in the passing circle training drill.
And now we can add Manchester United and England left-back Luke Shaw to that list after the Red Devils' latest training session in Turkey on Wednesday evening. Scroll down this article to see the moment little Juan Mata toyed with his teammate, and the brilliant reaction from the rest of the United squad as Shaw was left red-faced.
Manchester United may be going through a tough run of form at the minute, but you couldn't tell by watching their latest training session.
Taking to Fenerbahce's Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium pitch ahead of tonight's Europa League tie against the Turkish side, the Old Trafford squad seemed in a relaxed mood.
Even before Shaw was taught a lesson by his Spanish teammate, United boss Jose Mourinho had been showing off his long-range shooting skills and - giving in to the urge we've all had on a cold night at training - booting the ball at his staff members.
How do we know this? Because a portion of the section was caught on camera by United's media department in their regular 'Bush Cam' feature.
Unfortunately for Shaw, the footage went on just long enough to see him try and close down Mata during his time in the centre of the Rondo drill.
Given the form the diminutive Spaniard has been in in recent weeks, the England international should, perhaps, have approached with a little more caution.
Skip to around the nine-minute mark to see the all-important nutmeg...
The look on the faces of Marcus Rojo and Daley Blind - both with their hands on their head - sums it up, and you can't blame Mata for walking off with his hand raised aloft in celebration. It really was a perfectly executed drag back nutmeg.
At least United captain Wayne Rooney was on hand to offer Shaw an arm around his shoulder in support.
