British professional golfer Dame Laura Davies has achieved the status of the nation’s most proficient female golfer of the modern era.

However, her display in Abu Dhabi was quite a contrast as she made an early exit from the tournament.

Davies looked infuriated with the showing as she threw her putter into the lake after a difficult round at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open.

The seven-time ladies European tour winner was surpassed by Iceland golfer Olafia Kristinsdottir in the first round after a two-over 74 on Wednesday, but regained her stance with a brilliant start in the second round.

The fault on the 12th hole was cancelled out by a birdie-four at the 15th, but as the game progressed, Davies seemed to lose her touch.

Back-to-back bogeys on the 16th and 17th completely ruined her chances of getting back into the match as she plummeted below the cut mark, missing the final green in regulation and leaving a bogey putt short of the cup.

Tapping in for a double bogey to close on a score of 74, the 53-year-old undoubtedly looked unhappy with herself and tossed her putter in frustration into the nearby lake.

You can watch the footage below.

As a World Golf Hall of Fame member, Davies was expected to be among the leaders in the tournament, but fans witnessed a shocking display from her that took the golfing fraternity by surprise.

The veteran will want to forget this event as soon as possible, and simply put it down as a bad day in the office, or a bad day on the golf course in this instance.
