Professional boxing has given us yet another controversial headline today. The upcoming fight between long-term heavyweight rivals Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora was expected to produce fireworks, but not this close to bonfire night.
The pair had to be separated by security personnel when tempers flared out of control during the filming of 'The Gloves Are Off' for Sky Sports.
The program was being filmed to promote an upcoming fight between the two boxing stars that will be featured on the undercard of an IBF world title fight between Anthony Joshua and Eric Molina, which is scheduled to take place in Manchester on December 10th.
Sports TV presenter Johnny Nelson was firing questions at the two fighters, which then led to them firing at each other.
First by way of verbal insults, with Whyte constantly calling Chisora 'an idiot' followed by 'a goat', which then saw Chisora lose his cool and launch a glass sized wave of water over his opponent.
As you can imagine Whyte did not accept a soaking as just reward for his taunting of Chisora, instead, he flew into a rage and retaliated by throwing the glass at Chisora.
Luckily Chisora managed to duck in time and was not injured by the glass projectile.
The pair were then separated by onrushing security guards before the seasoned prize fighters were able to start landing bare knuckle blows on each other, which we're sure would have been the case had they not been dragged away from one another.
Tensions are at a high between the two men and understandably so. Chisora will be looking to salvage his career after a defeat to Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev put him out of contention for an IBF title fight with Joshua.
Whilst Whyte will be looking for a high-profile win following his defeat to Joshua back in December of 2015.
Feuding via social media throughout the year has not helped the relationship between the two rivals, but their upcoming WBC title eliminator fight will give them the opportunity to settle the score once and for all.
