Gary Lineker’s tweet about Mesut Ozil during Arsenal v Spurs goes viral

Gary Lineker might be an ex-Tottenham player with a soft spot for his former employers but he still can’t help but admire Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

The German playmaker has been in sparkling form this season and registered his second Premier League assist of the season against Spurs on Sunday afternoon.

Ozil’s free-kick was headed into his own net by the unfortunate Kevin Wimmer, whose attempt at clearing the ball went comically wrong just before half-time.

Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted with waves and waves of tweets in praise of their No. 11 - as they often do.

But Lineker also praised Ozil with his own tweet while simultaneously taking a pop at Wimmer’s defending.

Lineker tweeted: “Özil gets so many assists even the defenders think they have to finish from his deliveries.”

Tottenham equalised through Kane

Arsenal weren’t ahead for long against their north London rivals, however.

Harry Kane equalised for the visitors five minutes after half-time after Laurent Koscielny brought down Moussa Dembele inside the box.
