Real Madrid may have beaten Leganes 3-0 this afternoon to maintain their lead at the top of the table, but it was another frustrating day for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar is having an underwhelming season by his incredibly high standards and that continued with his inability to score against the La Liga strugglers.

And it seemed that Ronaldo allowed his frustrations to boil during the win.

That’s because, according to Spanish outlet Sport, he told referee Mateu Lahoz to ‘f*** off’ in English after he was shown a yellow card.

This incident occurred as early as the 17th minute with the former United star risking being sent off so early in the game.

While Ronaldo has struggled at times during the early part of this campaign, we must remember the incredible calendar year that he has had.

He helped Madrid to win the Champions League last season when he scored the winning penalty against Atletico Madrid at the San Siro.

He then inspired his Portugal side to victory in the European Championships with three goals leading up to the final. He may have been stretchered off early against France but that didn’t stop him barking orders from the touchline as his nation triumphed 1-0 in extra-time.

As a result, Ronaldo is widely expected to win his fourth Ballon d’Or trophy in January to move to within one award of Lionel Messi.

Form is temporary and class is permanent, though, so don’t be surprised to see Ronaldo banging in the goals on regular occasion once again.

He may need to curb his anger in the meantime.
