Neymar produces funny skill fail against Sevilla

Barcelona dug deep to record an impressive 2-1 win at Sevilla on Sunday evening.

Sevilla were hoping to capitalise on any lack of confidence following Barca’s midweek humbling to Manchester City in the Champions League.

And they had their tails up early on, Vitolo opening the scoring in the 15th minute.

But Barcelona quickly woke up, Lionel Messi equalising minutes before half-time and then assisting Luis Suarez’s winner.

Sevilla had chances to score a second - indeed, they recorded 15 shots, one more than their opponents - but couldn’t find a way through.

It was the perfect response from Luis Enrique’s team following Tuesday’s setback. Lionel Messi scored his 500th Barcelona goal and they’re within two points of league leaders Real Madrid.

The Blaugrana are pretty much unstoppable when MSN - Barca’s front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar - are in form.

All three have their roles. While Messi and Suarez get the goals, Neymar helps to create chances and also enjoys putting on a show.

Neymar's fail

The Brazilian has certainly cooled off on the tricks in the years since he arrived in Spain from Santos, but there’s no doubting he still relishes exciting the crowd.

He thought he had the chance to do so in the second half of Sunday’s contest. In the 81st minute, with Barca holding a slender advantage, Neymar attempted to fool his marker with some fancy feints.

It didn’t go well. Check out the video below.

Neymar probably would have been told to walk back to Catalonia had Sevilla ended up scoring from the breakaway.

Praise for Messi

One man who was probably allowed to sit at the front of the team bus was Messi, of course.

He scored his 16th goal of the season and had Enrique waxing lyrical about him post-game.

"Leo has the ability to play in any position and interpret any situation," the Barcelona manager said, per Goal.

"There is nobody like him. We always try to get the best out of Messi.

"Messi's goal got us back in the game and helped us believe in the comeback. Leo was very strong, but so was the rest of the team."
